Break the cycle. The serious ramifications of human behavioral manipulation by Toxoplasma gondii can only be mitigated by the control of the host animal. We support efforts by the Smithsonian Conservation Biology Institute, R Street Institute and the American Bird Conservancy to control the host population. In particular, we would like to recognize Gareth Morgan’s landmark stance on host euthanasia. Although their motivation may be distinct from Citizen’s Against Toxoplasmosis’ primary mission, the end result is an environment free from the parasite vector.
